Charley's File #9

This Excel mini-dashboard was inspired by a Business Week figure. It uses three charts to show trends under the same general heading.(All of my swipe files use Greeking, which is fake Latin. It helps you ignore the textual content and focus on the actual charts and tables.)

Each set of swipe files comes with two PDFs for documentation: a general, eight-page "Getting Started" document, and a two-page document specific to the current swipe file.

Usage Ideas

Use the figure in Word or PDF documents.
Use it in PowerPoint slides, perhaps with changed dimensions.
Add the figure to an Excel report. To make it fit with the rest of the page, use similar fonts for major headlines or titles, and a hint of the darker colors.
To display categories of information, rather than trends, change any of the charts to a column chart.

From the documentation for this swipe file...

You might call this a mini-dashboard figure. It shows three trends under the same general heading.

And like a dashboard, we’ll manage the data using a Control sheet and three separate Figure Data Support (FDS) sheets.

The Control sheet serves two purposes. First, it contains settings that apply to the entire report. In this report, the sheet contains the date and the title text shown at the left of the figure.

Second, it contains the workbook-scoped range names used within the FDS sheets, which have the sheet names A, B, and D.

(Continued in the documentation.)
