This set of Swipe Files contains several figures in one.

This figure shows growth in real domestic product by state for the top-and bottom-three states. Another figure uses the same format to show growth in per capita personal income by state for the top- and bottom-three states.

If you have KydWeb, you can download new data with one of the workbooks in this set. Otherwise, you can use the other two workbooks to chart static data values for each figure.

Usage Ideas

You can adapt these charts to show top- and bottom-ranked performance of just about anything: products, sales people, vendors, whatever.

Or, you could use the same set of charts to display the growth in any measures of performance. But rather than manually setting the green and red fills to signal good and bad performance, you could set conditional formats to do the same thing. This would let you arrange the charts in any order and use the color codes to alert readers to extreme performance.

One unusual thing about these figures is that the rankings are determined by formula. So as the data changes, the rankings adjust as needed.
